That's a PRETTY Big Hole!!

Or an absolutely stunning Grand Canyon!!!

We arrived late Sunday night to the Grand Canyon and found at least an inch or so of snow on the trees...none on the roads! Nice!

We woke up Monday morning to an overcast foggy day. The snow was gorgeous on the trees. We drove out to Mather point on the South Rim and went to the visitors center. As usual I took a ton of pictures. I can't believe how they changed throughout the day!! The light really makes a huge difference on the canyon. It was gorgeous in the fog and at the end of the day on an overcast sunset.

Here are a few pics. and the link to the entire 200... : )

Closer to Sunset on the Eastern end of the park.

I am sorry Rachel but it was the quote of the trip. We get out of the car at a scenic overlook after being in visitor centers, museums and overlooks all day. Rachel walks up to the rim and says " Why is that hole there?" Now if anyone was listening and not looking at the wall on the overlook......one might wonder which hole she was asking about..... so being the sarcastic friend that I am I started explaining the geologic processes that formed the canyon.... with a huge smile on my face!!!! I knew she meant the hole in the wall for water drainage and finally explained that too!!!

When I look at this picture I am still stunned!! I took this picture around sunset facing east out of a gift shop. I still think that it looks like a painting of the canyon but that was REALLY the canyon out there!!!

Facing East as the sun set behind clouds behind us!!
