Red Rock Canyon and Slots Vegas!

Love it! My friend used the nick name slots Vegas..It works! I really wasn't there very long. I had driven all day on Sat from Barstow up through the Valley and stopped Many times to take pics and walk a little bit. I ended up staying the night on Sat in a town named Pahrump!! What? Who names there town that?

I drove into Vegas on Sunday AM thinking I was going to go to the Hoover Dam before my friend flew in for the week. I only had Sunday night to visit with her. So on my way to Vegas I decided to stop in Red Rock Canyon! Soooo glad I did! It was gorgeous!! I saw tons of bike riders and would love to go back and ride through the area. I didn't bring my bike this time! Bringing it next time I am going to Vegas though!! Just a short 6 hr drive from me!

So then I left around 11 am as it was getting hot and needed to find food and drink! I stopped to pick up lunch for the road and found myself at REI a little longer than I expected!!

I am starting to train for the 100 mile wilderness hike on the Appalachian trail in Maine this August. I needed to get some new gear. It was their big anniversary sale and the 20% off for members. I couldn't pass it up!!

Suffice it to say I never made it to Hoover dam! Next time!

Then I met Sue and our friends for dinner and spent some time at the casino. I put a few bucks in a video poker machine, killed 30 minutes and ended up with the same money back in the end! I will take breaking even! : )










Now, Wait! How far did I drive from CA?!! It is my first time in Vegas can you tell! Ok, I may have been here when I was 8. Different story then!





I won enough to do my laundry and proceeded to lose it and gain it back etc...for about 3o minutes. Finally I cashed out where I began. Enough of this!! : )




So we drove down the strip. Got to watch a few shows since traffic was moving so slow!
