The mountains are calling

We had a blizzard last week that left all of 3 inches of snow in Colorado Springs. This was the view of Pikes Peak the morning of the blizzard. I heard Denver got a foot of snow an hour north and 17 inches an hour south...?? Go figure... The snow was gone the next day.

My friend Wendy and I decided to try to get some skiing in after the storm. All the locals have been raving about Monarch Mtn. I see why!! The views were amazing!!

What really blows my mind is that Wendy's brother was off fly fishing the same day we were skiing!! Within an hour apart!! Still not used to the weather out here!!

The drive out to Monarch Mtn

Here I am at the top of the mountain with my pockets packed full as usual. I love this coat! The pockets are huge!!

Wendy at the top of the mountain...awesome views!

Someone had set this up at the top of the mountain. Just give me one Pina Colada....

The drive away from the mountain is gorgeous!!

I think this is Mt Princeton. It is one of the mountains we passed on our way back home.

Notice the huge amount of snow in the foreground!!!

Driving into the town of Salida on our way back from the mountain....

interesting little town.. about the size of brush but a bit more artsy.

One of the local art stores.

Driving back to Colorado Springs we had yet another view of Pikes Peak. It is the 14000 ft mtn in our neighborhood.
