Hanging out with the Burke Girls in the Rockies!

Amy and Lorene flew in from NYC and we took off to Aspen for a day of snowshoeing! It was fun!!!

The theme of the trip....no not really.....how much trouble can 4 girls cause!!

We headed out route 70 west into the rockies and met up with some locals on the way to Aspen...The sign said buffalo viewing...that is what the buffalo were doing...viewing us!!

Toasty warm gearing up for snowshoeing in Aspen.
Carla, Lorene and Amy.

Amy and Lorene still pretty warm after an hour hike in the snow!

And now to venture into the town of Aspen for some dinner and.... dare I say...shopping???

What a great name for a "package" store!!

Hey! Why is it blurry???

Great pub for some Guinness stew after a long winter hike! Beware of cougars!!

Someone haggling over a $14,000 8ft by 6 ft painting...never mind where would you put it?? Hey we talked him down to 7,000!! sorry still no place to put it...and oh yeah..student loans!!

Jess joined us on Saturday at Copper Mountain ski resort. Jess has a ski pass and is in her second year of snowboarding! She does awesome for just starting..she was waiting on the skiers alot!! : ) Lorene did great on her first ski trip in powder! Still learning to ski but the learning curve was faster here! She hit the green slopes at the top of the mountain by mid day!!

Lorene and I were lucky enough to run into someone who couldn't use the 3rd day of their ski passes!! they just handed us 2 lift tickets!! How wonderful!! Pay it forward!!

Jess and Amy heading up the Copper mountain

And there is Carla and Lorene....way back there!!

View from the top

It was so darned cold the shutter wouldn't open on my camera!!

Toasty warm in 2 shirts a down jacket and a windbreaker!! I just look like the Michelin man but hey I was warm!!

Does she look like a snowboarder or what???

Amy would be the black diamond skier of the group! I went down a blue intermediate with her and felt like I was on an east coast black diamond!! My quads just love to down hill ski!!

Lorene and Jess have the hang of it!!

Jess on the board watching the intro ski lesson Amy was giving Lorene. Great Teacher! Lorene was doing great by the end of the day!

Our friends Aunt was nice enough to let us use her condo for the weekend! It was great to have a nice cozy place like home to return to after skiing...but not before we stopped for dinner.....

And the best part of being in Frisco...the Mint in Silverthorne...

The girls grilling steaks and keeping toasty warm after a long day of skiiing!!

Lorene, Jess, Amy and Carla....waiting for steaks!!

Ok forget the steaks...the real reason to go to the Mint after skiing is the baked potato for dessert!! Yup you heard me!! cookies and cream ice cream shaped like a baked potato and rolled in cocoa powder with whipped cream down the center (to simulate the sour cream) and chocolate sauce and almonds on top! YUM!!

Sunday I took the girls back up to the Breckenridge Nordic Center! It is so gorgeous up there I love it! I decided to buy a 10 pack and cut 4 bucks off each trail pass and ski or snowshoe rental! We used 3 of the ten punches last week...plan to use another 2 today!!

So much nicer to buy a ten pack for here than the metro to NYC!! ok that is debatable but that is my opinion at the moment!! I am LOVING the snow!!

The Breckenridge downhill ski resort is within view and we xc ski right under the gondolas for the resort!!

A cozy place to keep warm!
